The Human Resource Development Department, Government of Sikkim is organizing Exposure Visit cum Excursion for 177 class IX topper students from Government schools under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA); a flagship scheme of MHRD, Government of India. The programme is aimed at providing exposure to the students as well as encouraging academic competency among the students at secondary level. The activity is part of  project on Science and Maths namely; Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan that encourages excellence in learning of Science and Maths in Schools. During the excursion, they will visit different places in Kolkata with special focus on Science and Maths learning; such as Science City, Planetarium, Botanical Garden, leading institutes of Science and higher studies etc. The trip is being organized through Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC).

The 1st Batch of 41 girl students from North and East Districts was flagged off by Shri Shyam Pradhan, the Hon’ble Parliamentary Secretary, HRDD on 5th February 2017 (10:30 am). The programme was also be attended by Shri M. T. Sherpa, the Special Secretary cum SPD (RMSA), Directors, senior officials of the Department, School Heads as well as STDC. The 2nd batch with 57 girl students from South and West District will be flagged off from Jorethang, South Sikkim on 7th February 2017. Further, 3rd batch with 39 boy students of North and East Districts will leave from Gangtok on 9th February 2017 and 4th Batch with 40 boy students from South and West Districts will depart from Jorethang on 11th February 2017. The excursion will be escorted by the Teachers and officials of HRDD and STDC.

The first batch comprising of 41 girl students was addressed by the Hon’ble Parliamentary Secretary and Special Secretary cum SPD -RMSA before being flagged off on 5th February 2017. Shri Pradhan while addressing the students advised them to leave good marks wherever they go and also learn good things from the trip.
