Sikkim Students in Japan

            The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education & Literacy, Government of India has selected four outstanding students in the field of Science from Government schools of Sikkim to represent the State under Japan Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science, also known as SAKURA Exchange Program in Science. The program has been launched by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) with the objective of enhancing exchange between the youth of Japan and rest of Asia. The following are the four students selected for the program:-

1.Mr. Abisek Pandey, Government Senior Secondary School, Singtam (East)

2.Mr. Roshan Kumar Rai, Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School, Gangtok

3.Mr. Mohan Chandra Sharma, Government Senior Secondary School, Dentam

4.Mr. Bijoy Neopaney, Sr. Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School, Gangtok

            It may be noted that these students have been selected on the basis of their excellent performance in Science subject wherein they have scored 90% and above CGPA in the Class X Board Examination held in 2016. They will be in Japan for a weeklong program from April 16-22, 2017. The students escorted by Shri Prem Das Chettri, Post Graduate Teacher (Physics) of Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School called on Shri G.P. Upadhyaya, Additional Chief Secretary, Human Resource Development Department on April 13, 2017 before their departure for the program to Japan. During brief meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary in the presence of Shri M.T. Sherpa, Director (SE) and other officers congratulated the selected students and expressed his best wishes for their trip to Japan and also impressed upon them to learn as much as possible from their visit to Japan.
